Scholarship Fund

The Gilpin County Education Foundation offers four scholarships to graduating seniors:

  1. Gilpin County Education Foundation Scholarship
  2. Thielemann Family Teacher Scholarship
  3. Clinton Family Trades Scholarship
  4. Girls In STEM Scholarship

The first three scholarships are for graduating seniors who are permanent residents of Gilpin County regardless of the school they attend or any student graduating from Gilpin County High School. The Girls In STEM scholarship is for young women graduating from Gilpin County High School.

The Gilpin County Education Foundation Scholarships are for students who are planning to pursue post-secondary education, including college, community college, technical school or certificate program following graduation. Scholarship amounts are based on the merit of the applications received and the funds available.

Only one Thielemann Family Teacher Scholarship will be awarded each year and is restricted to students pursuing a career in education. It is a $1,000 scholarship. Students pursuing an education profession should apply to this scholarship only. If you are not awarded this scholarship, your application will be reviewed by for the GCEF general scholarship.

There are two $1,000 Clinton Family Trades Scholarships available each year. Students pursuing a trades profession should apply to this scholarship only. If you are not awarded this scholarship, your application will be reviewed by for the GCEF general scholarship.

The Girls in STEM Scholarship was established in 2026 to support and empower young women from Gilpin County who are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. This scholarship recognizes the importance of increasing female representation in STEM fields and aims to encourage students to follow their curiosity, build their skills, and become the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. This scholarship requires a separate application and can be awarded in addition to the GCEF Scholarship.

Scholarship applications for the 2025/2026 School Year are due on or before Monday, April 27, 2026.

Using AI: The scholarship review committee is looking for essays that reflect the students lived experience, therefore, we ask that AI only be used to improve grammar and spelling and not to generate content for any portion of your essay question.
